Alabama LB Will Anderson tops Mel Kiper’s 2023 Big Board

If Mel Kiper was the NFL’s general manager, he knows who he’d pick with next year’s first draft pick, assuming that team doesn’t need a quarterback.

According to ESPNKiper named Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. as his number one prospect heading into the 2022 college football season (which begins Aug. 27).

As Kiper writes, “Anderson is a dominant and unique rusher who could have been the No. 1 overall pick in April had he been draft eligible. He doesn’t take play, is versatile and has made several impressive plays against the run. Anderson’s Alabama coaches are full of praise for him.

After a season in which he recorded an FBS-best 79 pressures and 17.5 sacks, it’s easy to justify Anderson’s ranking on Kiper’s big board.

Behind Anderson is teammate and quarterback Bryce Young, whom Kiper describes as “an anticipatory pitcher who knows how to hit receivers where they need the ball to run after the catch.”

Like Anderson, Young had a highly productive second season, throwing 47 touchdowns to just seven interceptions en route to winning the Heisman Trophy.

FanDuel Sports Betting currently has the Crimson Tide holding the best odds in the FBS Championship at +200.
