Alabama residents share ways to save money during inflation

EAST ALABAMA (WTVM) – As we continue to see prices rise, saving money can be crucial in our daily lives, and even earning a few dollars can help.

One way to keep track of your spending habits can help you separate out the items you want and even need. There are also ways to earn money.

According to World Data, the inflation rate in Alabama is 9.1% and in Georgia 9.6%.

As items from gas, clothing, and food continue to rise, now is the time to budget to ensure you have the cash to pay those monthly bills.

Alabama resident Richard Whittington found a way to save money. He said that by going to discount stores, he finds brand name items for more than half the price and spends time finding coupons for his groceries.

“You can find places at reduced prices. There are several places in town that have stuff at much lower rates. Another thing is looking for sales. Definitely coupons, especially on food like Kroger and other groceries. Every time you buy something they print coupons,” he said.

According to CSL Plasma, you can earn up to $1,000 per month by donating plasma to people who need plasma therapies to lead healthier lives.

Some plasma sites offer bonuses to new donors when signing up and referring friends.

Another benefit of donating plasma is earning promotions and rewards every time you donate. You can use earned points to redeem gift cards for real money to use in stores.

Now here is a way to save and earn money. Find stores in your area that give you money to donate old clothes you don’t wear while buying the items you need at a discount.

The owner of consignment store Fringe in Opelika, Ginger Whatley, said they were taking items of dresses, handbags, shoes and even baby clothes in good condition from the previous owner, and that they marked them down to make them affordable.

“I can guarantee the price is 30, 25, 15 percent off the full retail price, so you can’t help but save money,” she said.

There are many ways you can budget your money, like canceling those TV subscriptions or using rewards programs at grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations. There are always ways to cut back and make money.
