Auburn launches Jane B. Moore Endowment for Softball Excellence

AUBURN, Alabama – An endowment supporting Auburn Softball and honoring the venue’s namesake, Dr. Jane B. Moore, kicks off Saturday with an initial $25,000 donation from Tigers Unlimited through the On Deck Club.

“It is appropriate that this fund be named after Dr. Moore, given his ardent support of Auburn Athletics and softball in particular,” the athletic director said. Allen Green noted. “We appreciate all of our On Deck Club supporters who share Dr. Moore’s passion for investing in student-athletes at Auburn Softball.”

The On Deck Club’s mission is to foster, develop and promote Auburn Softball to the general public and to provide financial support for the program through annual dues. The Jane B. Moore Softball Excellence Endowment will be used to further enhance Auburn’s softball program through annual strategic initiatives.

The endowment is created to honor the late Dr. Jane B. Moore, one of the most influential women in Auburn’s athletic history.

Auburn’s softball complex was named Jane B. Moore Field in her honor in 2002 and dedicated on April 26, 2003, in recognition of Moore’s service to athletics at Auburn.

In 1975, Moore became the first woman to serve on Auburn University‘s Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics. She has served on several athletic committees for both men’s and women’s sports for over 40 years.

Moore made significant professional contributions to Auburn University during a 28-year career on the faculty of the College of Education and the Department of Health and Human Performance (now the School of kinesiology).

Her service to Auburn was recognized with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and the Pamela Wells Sheffield Award, which recognize women in Auburn who exemplify grace, character, and selfless service and commitment to Auburn University and family. Auburn.

“Now is the perfect time to showcase this exciting initiative as we are hosting the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament this weekend,” the Auburn softball coach said. Mickey Dean noted. “Dr. Moore’s lasting impact on Auburn’s softball program and her legacy on our campus continue to create opportunities for Auburn women.”
