Auburn parking garage closed for two weeks, alternate lot available | Local News | Auburn, NY |

With Auburn‘s downtown parking lot closed for two weeks, the city is offering alternate, temporary parking for motorists.

Free parking will be provided on the Hulbert Street lots, accessible from State Street between Arterial East and Arterial West. There is a crosswalk between Hulbert and Rue Clark, allowing pedestrians to cross the thoroughfare and head downtown. It’s a six-minute walk from the downtown grounds, the city said.

Over 150 spots will be available at the alternate courts, which are owned by Community Computer Services. Signs are posted to inform drivers of the lands they must use. They must not park in spaces reserved for MEDENT employees.

The parking garage will be closed until Sunday, August 7 to allow for the completion of a major rehabilitation project that began last year. The city said the closure is “necessary to complete the renovation of the garage.”

While the garage is closed, street parking spaces will be monitored and tickets will be issued to offenders. There is two hours of free parking for downtown Auburn business customers, but employees and residents must use long-term options in city lots or temporary Hulbert Street lots.

“The City of Auburn will not be issuing refunds for any tickets you may receive due to travel due to the closure of this garage,” officials said.
