Bo Nix Oregon’s Register-Guard Tabs from QB

Former Auburn football QB Bo Nix looks like the No. 1 option in Oregon’s QB room in 2022, and another sign points to the Ducks, handing him the reins of offense this upcoming season on day 1.

The Register-Guard, the local newspaper published in Eugene, Oregon, predicted Nix would be the starting quarterback ahead of Ty Thompson and Jay Butterfield.

That’s not shocking considering Nix’s dominance in Oregon’s April 23 spring game. After spending much of the offseason behind Thompson, Nix made a big late effort in April to usurp the rookie from Gilbert, Arizona.

Thompson played down QB competition earlier this offseason when asked about the run under center between him, Nix and Butterfield:

“He has been a great blessing to me over the past few months. I’m very grateful for the things he’s done, especially for this team and myself. Everyone likes to pin quarterbacks against each other, especially if we’re competing. It’ll never be like this with me and Bo, and even Butters [Jay Butterfield]. He did a great job leading the team, being humble and working harder. I have nothing but good things to say about Bo.

Former Auburn football QB Bo Nix could make Tiger fans regret their behavior

Bo Nix has gone toe to toe with SEC defenses that have produced multiple NFL draft picks. LSU, Georgia and Alabama have been historically strong in Nix’s last three years in the Plains, making the competition the Pinson product will face in the Pac-12 pale in comparison.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Nix could become a household name for what he’s doing this season in Oregon. If that happens, Tiger fans who couldn’t keep his name out of their mouths might have their feet there instead.
