Jones Walker expands tax practice with addition of business development veteran Drew Marlar

Drew is a seasoned economic development finance lawyer who helps missionary organizations across the country achieve their goals and build stronger communities. Drew advises clients on a wide range of complex financial and real estate transactions, with a focus on bond finance, non-profit governance and qualification, secured loans, community development, affordable housing, business development and renewable energy and historic preservation projects. It also provides advice on major tax credit programs. He understands the challenges faced by nonprofit and for-profit developers and investors, such as the lack of permanence of some programs and the rapidly fluctuating costs of materials and construction, and helps clients combine multiple types of financing in a single transaction. In addition to his 20 years of private practice, he served as in-house legal counsel for Habitat for Humanity International and general counsel for a non-profit loan fund that finances facilities for charter schools.
