MLF Anglers Unite With MLB Baseball Players In Alabama To Benefit Kids

Professionals from two of America’s most popular sports gather in Guntersville to fish a little and, most importantly, to raise money for the benefit of young people.

Major League Fishing professional anglers as well as Major League Baseball pros will test their skills on one of the nation’s best bass fishing lakes on Sunday, November 21.

The roster of former and current MLB players who have pledged to participate in the event is sure to create excitement among baseball fans across Alabama and beyond.

MLB will be represented by Jake Peavy, Ned Yost, Corbin Burnes, Josh Hader, Chaz Roe, Dan Jennings, Jake Marisnick, Jace Peterson, Wade Miley, LaTroy Hawkins and Lane Thomas.

MLF Anglers joining MLB players are Chris Lane, Jared Lintner, Brandon Coulter, Kelly Jordan, Paul Elias, Fred Roumbanis, Russ Lane, Casey Ashley, Mark Rose, Boyd Duckett, Gary Klein, Bobby Lane, Greg Vinson and Fletcher Shyrock.

Each team will leave early on Sunday, November 21 with the goal of winning the tournament and securing bragging rights for an entire year.

Led by the Major League Fishing Foundation and the Major League Fishing Angler Association, “Cast 4 Kids” was conceived from an idea within the MLF Foundation.

“Our goal at MLFAA and the MLF Foundation is to elevate the sport of fishing and there is no better way to do that than to introduce our fishermen to other professionals from other sports,” said MLF Foundation executive director Wes Long. “Additionally, our goal at the MLF Foundation is to extend the life of the sport by taking care of our fisheries and ensuring children are exposed to fishing from an early age. We look forward to raising money and hosting an event that will appeal to kids and parents.

Each professional fisherman will be paired with a professional baseball player to form the teams for the tournament. The tournament kick off will take place at Civitan Park in Guntersville.

The public will be invited to attend the tournament for free and meet their favorite professional fishermen and baseball players. The teams should be out of the water around 1 p.m. A weigh-in will take place and the winners will be announced in front of the crowd. There will also be a marching band at Civitan Park starting at noon. Food and retail vendors will also be on site.
