On the afternoon of January 16, sophomore head coach Steve Sarkisian, special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Texas football program made three additions to the transfer portal of the NCAA at the start of this offseason. Texas landed an out-of-gate transfer commitment on Jan. 16 from former Alabama junior tight end Crimson Tide and top-notch rookie Jahleel Billingsley.

It’s important for Sark, Banks and the Longhorns to get that talented tight end who is a proven threat in the passing game at Forty Acres this weekend. Billingsley is a national champion for the Crimson Tide for the 2020-21 season. And he just played in another college football playoff national championship game earlier in the week. Granted, Alabama fell short to the Georgia Bulldogs in the national championship game on Jan. 10.

Texas lost a starting tight end on the transfer gate earlier this offseason with junior Jared Wiley leaving for Big 12 foe TCU Horned Frogs last week.

Who could come next for Texas football out of the gate after landing TE Jahleel Billingsley?

The tight end was one of those positions in question for the Longhorns as to whether they would seek help here out of the transfer gate this offseason. With an intriguing player as talented and powerful as Billingsley emerging on the portal this offseason, it only made sense for Texas to pursue him.

Now that Texas has implemented an out-of-portal commitment to Billingsley, what’s next for the program?

Here’s a look at the prediction of who could be the next Portal addition for the Longhorns after Billingsley this offseason.
