Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson is the first Fort Payne High School player on a team’s active Super Bowl roster.

McPherson makes Fort Payne the 75th high school in Alabama to have an alumnus on the active roster of a Super Bowl team. These schools have produced 97 Super Bowl players.

Four Super Bowls have been played without at least one former Alabama high schooler on one of the teams – the NFL title games for the 1977, 1996, 1997 and 2006 seasons. This season’s championship game will be the 15th consecutive Super Bowl with at least one former high school player from Alabama eligible to play.

Seven former Alabama prep stars reached the Super Bowl for the 2015 and 2019 seasons to set the highest rating.

Sidney Lanier in Montgomery is the high school in Alabama that has had the most former players on active Super Bowl team rosters with six. These players have gone to eight Super Bowls.

Lanett and Woodlawn in Birmingham are tied for second in Super Bowl player production at three apiece.

Tuscaloosa with six and Fairfield and Ensley with five rank closest to Sidney Lanier for the number of Super Bowls for their players.
